Envy,is an unchecked human emotion, anger is the one that still gets me.
What really surprises me is that no one has taken me too task on my claim to build a small eddy current separator using the permanent magnet rotors from larger stepper motors.

So it looks like ferrous metals, like the tin cans, will be attracted to the magnet, but nonferrous will be repelled. I love how physics work. :)

Gus, great video really demonstrats the concept. Some of the motors I get have a large magnet on the rotor, about 3 1/2" in diameter. Might be a short cut to making something to play with. Mike
miked the rotor below is the type of motor rotor you want, each slot cut into the magnet gives multiple north and south poles which are needed needed to generate those eddy currents

Thanks for the picture Gus. It really is worth a thousand words. Its does seem that a granulator and one of these eddy current seperators would do a great job on wire. Mike.
