If their 12 volt then any 12 volt wall wart would make a trickle charger I think. They just charge till the battery's topped off then quit charging.I want to build a charger for my bike and scooters. thx

A wall wart will continuously charge it wont shut off automatically and will most likely cook the battery to death if it is left on for a long time. Harbor Freight sells a small motorcycle charger that goes on sale for 4.99 quite often. It would be perfect for your needs.
Your wrong there cause my phone, cordless drills, shaver all quit charging when they are topped off. I can leave them on for 12 hours and the charger is cool to the touch, so you know when it has quit charging. Yes the H.F. charger would be better cause it has the correct hookups for the battery but I'll bet the insides look like the normal wall warts. For 4.99 your not getting a complete monitoring system inside it. Just my opinion,,
I use a UPS. Disconnect the battery and extend the cables. Most UPS's charge at 12 volts and have all the circuitry to charge and don't overcharge the battery. I disconnected the buzzer and replaced it with a light so the sound doesn't drive me nuts when charging a battery that's completely dead. I have a UPS on my workbench that also doubles as a 12 volt power supply and an AC power strip.
thanks guys. dont know what a wall wart is ? a ups is im assuming a universal power supply or uninterupted power supply have one of those BUT since a cpu power supply is 120ac going in and 12Vdc coming out and all kinds of different voltages it seem to me it is a natural charger if you combine the right wires. I dont want to spend the bucks for chargers when I have 100 or more power supplies.
thanks guys. dont know what a wall wart is ?
Yea, and I'll bet you've had a hundred of them also,,,
Usually the red wire is the 12 volt, but to be safe use a small voltmeter and make sure it's 12 positive voltage, NOT 12 volt negative voltage. Cause a power supply makes both.
That's why I thought about a wall wart in 12 v. cause the scooter batteries are kinda small and don't need a big charger.
To change the subject just a little, the power supply from computers will make a good power supply to run a mobile CB radio as a base station, they put out 3 to 5 amps so they'll handle a tuned up regular CB, not a 50 - 100 watter.
