Me personally I use a dodge dakota 3.9 v6 5 speed 2 wheel drive. Have a homemade trailer out of a popup that I pull. Or will rent the uhaul trailer if need be. I have pulled anything and everything. Last load I was peaked at 8000 lbs between truck-trailer 3 vending machines and my buddy and me. Think the vending machines was around 1800 lbs. So the bastard does pull everything. I love the looks and people tell me me I need a bigger truck. I just laugh and say I need more scrap. I made it into a hillbilly stake body. Cut squares out of the box and mounted wooden sides. I have had it stacked 14 ft high at 1500lbs tin with chain binders and straps to secure. Never lost anything and only get dirty looks from DOT.
Guess it helps I was a mech for many..many...MANY years and also a truck driver for 3 otr. Plus a hillbilly redneck lol. I know how to drive and tweak vehicles to do what I want. I should take a pic. I just bought a pre built bumper off my bud. 3 inch emt tube stacked 3 high with diamond plate on top. Was built for a f150 by the owner and then scrapped with the truck. My bud gave it to me for cylinder heads. My welder friend installed and modded it to fit the Dakota. You really should see the looks now...lol. People think twice about cutting me off at the lights and what not.
Oh and go ahead laugh./....piss ant lil v6 dakota. Best was
tow dolly with 3500 thunderbird hooked it to it with no motor/trans but driveshaft still hooked to rear. Had the driveshaft tied up to spin, but got caught. The car kicked sydewayz and the Dakota kept pulling till it snapped the ujoint.. Went right up a 6% grade for 5 miles in 3rd gear at 35. :>
So long rant over, but I love my lil ole green truck. She makes me money and dont cost me nothing. 16 mpg too. :>
