Winch advice needed

I dont have a lot of funds atm, but want a winch for the front of the truck. I want something to be able to drag things out of the mud and froze in the ground, up a 25ft hill for example. I clean a lot of old dump sites up and sometimes its a bear to get things up the hill. I may also use it for the occasional car that I need to get up and on the trailer... Just dont have a lot of cash with all the bills I got for a 9000lb winch....

If it were me I'd prolly go with the HF winch. I still have a hard time believing HF puts out a winch that performs comparable to winches costing 2 to 3 times more, but most of their reviews tell me otherwise.

Plus if it breaks, you can refund/exchange. Try that with CL.

I have used both....the Champion 4500 lb atv winch used, is a much better winch.

For pulling cars, etc up a hill or onto a trailer a 4,500lb unit isn't going to cut it. At best it will be adequate. But you can add a snatch block to reduce the load on the winch.

The 8,000lb harbor freight unit gets surprisingly good reviews, but the remote controls are the weak point (contacts inside don't last very long). I've used the 12k lb unit before and it still performed well even when maxed out.

If you can wait and save up the extra $, get an 8,000lb unit at the least. You'll find new uses for it all the time.

I have a beautiful 127 lb wench you can have free, but the maintenence cost is kinda over the top !! OH wait, you said winch, never mind.

go look in car magazines at the store they have harbor freight coupons in them (diesel power, mini truckin' etc). I got my 9000 lb harbor freight badlands winch for $250. they're usually 300 with the coupon but I found an extra cheap one. You're going to need the 9000 for what you want to do, trust me.

Owned the badlands 9000 winch for 6 months and its top notch not problems yet. Mounted on front of car trailer winched cars pick ups and everything else too couldn't scrap without it

Check out sams club. I had a few of their Champion 10,000 winches and for the money they are good. Save back about 1000 and when it breaks replace it with a Ramsey. I went through 3 of the champions then Bought a Ramsey. Been great ever since.

Yet to brake my badlands 9000 pound winch and believe me I abuse the crap out of it got the extended warranty not been needed yet, not saying its the best winch ever but in my book for the money its top of the heap

I have a 1910 hand operated winch that I dont recommend but have no money for them fancy electric ones. My wife doesnt think I could make this into a real business. So what I heard is a challenge and I plan to make this into an empire one piece of scrap at a time. I will only use money I make to build this so I can say I built it with my own hands out of nothing but hard work. One thing I have going for me is I live for hard work, some people like vacations (boring) some like the movies (maybe if I need a nap) I prefer bloody knuckles and a sore back because then I know I did something.

I've been wanting to get a winch. Looks like the 12k Badland is only $30 more than the 9k winch.
