    new tools

me and my partner was talking tonight on the phone about the plasma cutter we are wanting to get and the topic come up about the tools we have acquired over the last 3 or 4 months paid for by our scrap we have picked up, im not bragging well maybe a little but im just showing what some hard work and determination can do.

manual tire changer for removing tires off of aluminum rims (32 in one day i was whooped
2 18v milwaukee 4 tool kits with the hackzall( super nice tool by the way
    milwaukee radio for the shop
    12v milwaukee impact driver
    1/2 electric milwaukee impact wrench
    4 winchs a 2000, 5000, 8000 and a 9000 lb
    new 16ft trailer
    bosch electric sawsall
    ace hardware chopsaw
    and several misc tools

now keep in mind im a scrapper so we say if we are working for pennies you gotta spend like it, i got all the winchs, the electric impact and electric sawsall at my buddies pawnshop, the milwaukee cordless tools were all new but i got them at an auction about and hr from home and barely cost over $400 but are worth well over 1000 ( i would bought more but run outa money ) and the trailer we bought at a storage unit we were hired to clean out. anyway i thought this might help some of the new guys, set a list of priorities and try to stick to it, the more GOOD tools you have the faster you can work and the more jobs you can take on. the first car we scrapped took us 2 hours to load and probably half a day to process, now it takes less than 5 minutes to load and the processing time varies but is rarely more than two hours. we are rookies for sure and learn more from here than anywhere else just trying to pass on some tips

Edit: the main reason for our success is me and my partner work well together, i couldnt imagine doing this job alone and those of you that do i admire you. we have been friends for about 20 years. you have to have the same goals or within compromising limits. my suggestion get a good partner, truck, tools and let the money flow

Nice job...one thing that can run you into the ground is getting tools....you need it...it costs money and sets you back...but if you dont get it..you wont make as much money...so its a fine line and you have to think smart and as you said work hard.

We have picked up some tools as well over the last few months mostly being bigger items like trailers totes for "gaylords" and other things along those lines.

We are about to buy a new pallet scale and a forklift..that will be a nice penny but will make some things alot easier!

    forklift is a powerful tool...

    its a

    motor lift
press (you can use it to press something out with the forks)
    loading or unloading truck/trailer
changing tire on truck or trailer
loading trailer onto truck...no longer having to use trailer jack
use as golf cart to get around in style
use to skin deer or hog...no need to lift them up into trees

    and...you get the idea lmao

What is a scary situation is when you are working out on a power plant and you are just doing your thing and you know there is a new hire who will be driving the large out door forklifts

and when you look over to see who the new person is...and you see its a female...that...can be very scray

my job i had before the factory job i have now (frito lay) was road construction done it for 8 years i seen alot of operators and the women honestly are usually alot smoother especially when just starting to learn, but any new hand can be scary, i was cutting a beam under a bridge with a torch standing in a excavator bucket, the dudes pager went off and jerked a handle cause it startled him, suppose to have been some pro from a local gravel pit, scared the sh!!!t outa me

    Forklifts rock!

I lucked into a 1959 Hyster 3 wheeler with pneumatic tires. Everyone said it was too little to do be of use. But its got a wisconsin V4, straight pipe and hi/low trans...will pull cars like a tractor, lifts close to a ton and turns on a dime. And only cost me $250 plus parts over the years. Plus its compact enough to load on the trailer and carry to a sale if need be.

One of the best tools ever. Never thought of using it to dress deer though

My sister in law used to work for a farm/hardware store. It was getting close to closing time and for whatever reason someone had partially closed an overhead door (think a tall RV type rollup door).

Anyways she was on the fork lift and bringing something in. Had the mast up....

Boom, slammed into the door, knocking it off its tracks.

Reminds me of the "woman drivers" email that gets sent around from time to time.

I prefer a skidsteer over a forklift. It's the swiss army knife of tools.

Heck if you're like this guy you don't even need a trailer. LOL!
