Concrete saw

Anyone use a gas powered concrete saw with metal cutting blade to cut through 1"+ steel and stainless? Right now, I'm using a 7" angle grinder. I'm wondering if the concrete saw would rotate too slow and stall the blade.

we have one and we love it, ive never cut 1 inch but ive cut the i-beams on a house trailer frame which were probably 1/4 it was faster than the torch mainly because we were not dragging the bottles around and we could just carry the saw to the next cut. if you got the means to buy it i would we use ours weekly. husqvarna also makes an electric one wouldnt be near as loud but u lose some portability

It would bog way down and go to slow. 1in is to thick. torch.

Mettler, I use a concrete saw to cut lots of steel, they are very handy,like corycouch says the portability is their advantage but they are pretty slow on big stuff.I think ParkerFlyer is right , a torch would be better in this situation. Good luck . Josh

i got a thick ferrous cutting blade for one for about $40 retail. i probably could have saved money ordering one online... i dont even use my gas demo-saw. im trying to sell this stihl 420. i dont get those kind of jobs very often

when i cut up the house trailer frame i used 3 dewalt 14 in blades a gallon of gas and a bottle of oil, i spent right at 20 bucks. we also use them to cut out the front grill and bumpers of vehilcles usually the radiator falls right out. mine is a wacker brand has a 1 in arbor so i canbuy any 14chopsaw blade. i think the stihl and husqvarnas use a 15/16 but please if im wrong someone let me know

Hey Kris Kringle, I cant answer your query with exact numbers but I cut a 22' tall 9' diameter steel tank and about 200' of 6" steel pipe into prepared using about a dozen wheels and 2 gallons of mixed gas. I buy my wheels off of ebay by the dozen usually, they run about 6-12 dollars apiece. I didn't really plan on making all of the mentioned steel into prepared but I had to cut it down to get in my pickup, so I figured what the hell and made a few more cuts to get dimension.I think the total weight was 7400lbs , if I had a trailer I wouldn't have bothered with so many cuts.This was more than one load obviously, I made three trips to the yard off of this one property.
