    Van with a Wheelchair Lift?

I have a bid in on a van at a Government Auction. It currently has a Braun Wheel Chair Lift. I was wondering if anyone ever used one of these as a Liftgate? I think I'd take the rails off, but as I'm typing I'm wondering if a pallet would fit through the brackets on the van?

Maybe just sell the lift to pay for the van?

I almost did this myself - bought a Ford E150 conversion van with wheelchair lift at a Goodwill auction and got it running. The lift is pretty capable but its only an inch or two wider than an average wheelchair, so a 40" pallet would be too wide.

In the end I didn't like that particular van very much and just sold it. You'd be surprised at the demand for reasonably priced wheel chair vans. Some guy drove up from TN just to get it for his grandson. It didn't even run that well.

I used one for awhile, it's good for picking up heavy bulky stuff( probably up to 300 pounds or so), and getting it on the move ( at least it'll get it up that first couple of feet and in the truck) It does take up a bit of cargo space though

depending on weather the lift is hydrolic or chain driven, the uses are countless in the scrap bis. lift, crusher, compacter etc.
