    Man cave baler

    Look at this:

God is great, scrap is good, and people are crazy

Its better to be scrapping and thinking of God than sitting in church thinking of scrapping

Well, that is kind of cool, but! If it is going to carry the name Man cave, I think it should have power already. No hand crank.

More power! Arrrgh arrrgh argggh. In my best Tim Allen voice.

Will a yard accept DIY baled cans?

Otherwise it would be neat for a sculpture or man cave art - build a wall with bales LOL

Sure would not take up much room to save up a good load of cans, so much for that overflowing truckload, flying out all over the place.

If I did my math right that's over 17,000 cans.

I'd finally be able to haul over 100 lbs of aluminum cans in my jeep wrangler! I get a little more $$ if I bring in a 100 lbs.

Sadly.... I dont collect enough cans to make that bailer worth buying.

There are a lot of You Tube can crusher videos posted , and most looked like a total waste of time and money .

Most of those can crushers look like a waste of time and $$ to me, but some of them look like a lot of fun/trouble to me too. I saw a really cool U-Tube video of a can crusher made from some HUGE can capacitors. Looks like it was spending way more electricity than it could ever be worth, but I still want one.

Hey dirty$$, I carried 137 lbs load of cans in my Buick Park Ave.....I did however remove(and scrap) the back seat and cut the trunk wall out to give it more of an "el camino-ish" feel. People are constantly amazed at what I can fit in her.

Or just use a hand tamper. Total cost about fifteen bucks.

That man cave baler would be easy enough to build utilizying a log splitter. Might have to put that on my long term to-do list. LOL!
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

    I only get a nickel. But if 68 cans= 2lb of aluminum @ .65/lb, then I am loosing $$.

$1.30 for ALU if I bale
$3.40 for cans if I redeem
I am (-$2.10) everytime I use this thing!!! That's an expensive parlor trick in my book!!

Yep, states with deposits don't generate a lot of soda cans in the scrap yard.

BTW if you move to MI you can double your can income. ;-)

    Yea
I thought about a log splitter too. I am guilty of tossing the cans like a lot of people. Between the yellow jackets making nests in the bags and them leaking all over the car it is almost not worth it. Finally at my wife's insistence I made one as an attachment to my splitter. I will post a video of it as soon as I figure out how to do it on this forum.

Says I need to have made at least two posts to embed a video so this is the second one. The baler works great and is fast enough for small time UBC recycling. The manager came out and said they preferred whole cans but gave us $48 just the same. Yea right ten 10 inch cubes containing 264 cans 80 pounds. Hum lets see that's 2,640 cans. Whole cans are not going to fit in the jeep.
