pick up bed trailer - Page 2

Why doesn't the gears turn? Swap them out?
I bought one pre made for $125 complete with landscaping ramp.
Here's the kicker.
IT"S A 1977 DATSUN BOX
Small trailer but great for when iwe pick up heavy stuff like pool heaters and motors.

Good thing is we have four trailers and a car dollly to choose from.
I am working on a very quick project over the weekend due to the cities need for me to get rid of some of the trailers. **** neighbors.
WE have a 34 foot camper trailer that I hate towing anywhere and the city wants if gone.
So party is at my place. Beer pizza and hot tub.
We're tearing that sucker down to the frame and shortening to 16 feet.
Then were going build a deck over trailer for the roof top air conditioners.
Got one today and it cost us $150 to get it to the shop.
So enough of that.



I like these pickup box trailers except they sway all over the place on the highway.
You may have to either buy sway bars or stay off the highway.
And thats our .02

Custom built that for a friend of mine, spent under 150 in all for materiAls to build it. Mostly salvage iron and parts, only bought the hitch and a bushing in the leaf spring.

If your pick up bed trailer sways more than likely the tongue is too short. Build all of mine with 5 foot of tongue from edge of the bed forward. Mine don't sway, test them out at 75 and with the tongue being longer their straight as a razor even at 75

Also make sure the truck is the same level or lower as the trailer or use a drop hitch, if your truck sets higher then the weight is on the rear of the trailer and it'll act like the "tail-wagging the dog"(sway).

Usually build my trailers running downhill to the front, usually 3" lower in the front, so when loaded down they sit level and your transferring as much weight forward as possible
