A small 2 cycle generator is nice to have; you can run an angle grinder or sawsall off it in the field. You are also going to want a come-along.
Platform carts are useful, especially the folding type that fit in a closet or truck cab.
Magnet, good quality wire cutters(harbor freight professional have done me well), Cable cutters are handy for cutting large bundles of small wires, sledge hammer(you will break the handle weld a metal one on), framing hammer(i find them extremely handy) gloves, Screwdrivers, basic wrench set, File..
Hatchet, very handy.
everytruck i own has sawzall socket kit gloves handtruck backbrace safetyglasses hammer and bolt cutters
i honestly don"t know if i could go a day with out all this though

I am missing a quarter inch socket. After using a prybar for a while I realized I could take the bit out of my screwdriver.
My basic tools are:
gloves
screwdriver
hammer
wire cutters
pliers
dolly
i know this is an older thread and ive posted on these before, for a NEW scrapper without any tools i would recommend a gerber or leatherman multi-tool(gerber for me), they come with a sheath so they are always on your belt, i used one most of the time i worked at frito and they are an invalualble. for scrappers specific they have pliers, wire cutter, knife, file, screwdrivers, scissors and some have a saw or a serated blade. i would buy name brand if you can afford it, i prefer the 600 series similar to the one below its a diesel a newer model than mine

Russell have you ever tried them? i thought the same thing till i used them, ive got one in every truck and on my fourwheeler, ive changed batteries with them, cut radiator hoses just about everything they also make a decent pair of welding pliers tho not as good as the real thing, sure they are not as good as having a separate pair of pliers, cutters, and a set of screw drivers, but i do feel it would make an excellent entry level scrapping tool IMO

I mostly work with electrions but sometimes old buildings metrials. Also I use good wire cuters that my dad has lying around our home.
Seed money for whenever a buying opportunity comes along.

Depending on what your going to do. Different kinds of scrapping involves using different tools. You may not need tools for breaking down a car if your doing electronics and visa-versa. Start at the beginning of the list and compare to what you now own.Quote:
