the few times i needed a truck for bigger job i just spend the 20 bucks on an u-haul. Now i got my connection to a large box truck with a lift gate when needed. But you can beat throwing 10 bucks in ur tank and covering 60 miles. so hard not to profit workin in a car. But i still give mad props to this old guy that brings in I beams tied to his bike loaded down with cans and copper. That man has the will.

If you want to do something bad enough you'll find a way. You are only held back by lack of creativity.
just this week i seen a guy dragging a trashcan down the main drag here in town, seen him pick up a few tire weights at an intersection and a piece of wire, today i seen him on the way to the yard with shopping cart and two trashcans in the cart withseveral bags hanging all over it still stopping to pick stuff up, he was still a ways from the yard when i passed, on my last trip today to the yard i dropped off a car and while i was leaving i had to talk to the yard manager about some more tanks, anyway the dude was there and all his stuff was full, the only thing i noticed for sure was a whole coffee can of tire weights, pretty impressive i thought, like i said im not sure what all he had but here weights are 30cents a lb and a coffee can of them would be heavy. i dont know why i havnt seen the guy before because im usually running all day
i see alot of scrappers using there cars making ok money ....
i have an car and just took in 270$ worth in one trip. it was steel, alum, and copper. i took out the back seat and the passenger. no one ever rides in my car so i just leave them out. good luck and happy hunting
I have had truck sold it, now I only have 2004 subaru forester and pull a 5x8 enclosed trailer which I push the limits of my hitch and tranny. Replaced tranny cheaper than truck and I get 20-25MPG all day long But I was wondering besides submariner guy red f150, (mine was blue just sold it and I miss it) who has what and recommends what for scrapping? is the truck more important or SUV that pulls nice trailer? open or enclosed trailer? just curious????

I've seen lots of cars out scrapping. Just fill it up best you can and leave the trunk/hatch open if you have to to fit more stuff in. Use every available speck of space and pack it good. you can make money with just a car load if you break it all down for maximum potential.

I use this set up a lot actually. I use a 2004 Subaru Forester Stick and a 4X8 open trailer. The most I've been able to pull was around 1000 pounds. The open trailer has some advantages in my opinion. One of the loads I did last year was 600 LBS of round pen fencing that was really awkward to load, and it wouldn't fit in a closed trailer.
The other vehicle I use a lot is a 2008 Honda CRV. I've stuffed 600 LBS of shred in it before. You have to make use of every square inch, but you can haul a lot. The only downside is that it does not have a trailer hitch right now, so if I have to pick up two appliances, I have to make two trips.
I'm saving up money so hopefully I can buy a cheap truck sometime next year. That would be nice!

if your in some kind of post secondary education you have a in that most of us don't. start buying lap tops and desk tops off the students and scrap um. advertise, hand out flyers, talk to IT guys in the school. you could potently pay off your loans pretty fast. i useed to scrap in a dodge caravan and a small trailer, then a mazada tribute, couple old GMs 1500 and now dodge diesels.
stripping computers is easy, specially if your listening to recorded lectures or wasting time watchin youtube vids like i am right now
