Work Bench???

The bench thats built into the garadge is full of crap and my storage cabinet with the plywood top is almost covered. I had a broken computer chair a couple years back. Instead of scrapping it, I took off the chair part, one of the arms was broken off so I cut a peice of 2x8 to put on for a seat. Its like a rolling chair a doctor will have in the exam room. Also use it for a small portable bench that I can adjust the hight if needed. Only problem is when cutting up stuff it wants to spin so I have to put my leg up against it.

I saw don't buy one look for free cabinet,wood,ect The only thing I buy is tools

built it myself. Didn't take long, and didn't cost anything. used scrap wood. Got a vice mounted to the far end. I break everything down on this.

i picked up some pallet racking from a dept store we scraped a couple of years ago. and its 10' long covered with.... i don't really know. but it can take anything i throw on it

Dude you must be pretty strong if you're picking up your concrete slab and putting it on two chairs for a workbench!

I've had less than that. Try laying on the ground to work under a car - in the middle of winter. Everybody starts somewhere. A few years later and I've got "a little" more. My wife and I was talking just last night about missing the "good old days" - not really.

Lot's of things you find make great work benches. M88 like console tvs, after you take the clam shell of a bbq throw a piece of plywood on there, saw horses with a old door on them. All chit you can find.

Gotta be careful using your truck bed to work on scrap. I was busting up some old speaker magnets a couple of weeks ago and a shard of magnet went right through my rear glass. Shattered the entire glass.

How big was the shard? That's a lot of force for a shard of a magnet.

How do you make a homemade stripper I have about 100 pounds I dread having to work on.

I builted Myself a 4 foot wide by 14 feet long.. table.. and put 2x4 on top around the permiter of the table, and next I put three 2x4 down the middle long way of the table... for support, next I took and cut two pieces of 1/4 inch thick, pass thru mesh and laid it on top of the table.. screwed it down.. and wa la... it catches all my screws, and what ever comes off the computer .. or whatever I'm tearing apart, I take the mesh off, once every two month and remove about 300lbs of metal scrwew and such.. and recycle that at the scrap yard.. hope that help.

I probably have thirty different work benches in places all over my one acre place I mostly use steel barrels wherever I'm working on a pile with a piece of plate steel or heavy plywood on top and drop my clean metals into the barrels as I work
I Have also built several heavy metal benches with old vises and home made anvils on them, I prefer the metal ones as I can weld stuff right to them to make repetitive tasks easier.

I guess I'll toss mine in there. I use a card table, and put my non-ferrous stuff on some plastic shelving next to it, ferrous is a pile on the ground. Makes it real nice to be able to just toss stuff into the proper bucket at the time you break stuff down instead of sorting it out when your done smashing stuff. Not the best setup, but it works for me. I used to just be doing everything on the ground in my driveway.

I usually just use a top of a stove or when in the garage the floor. Don't really have a bench since the house isn' mine..
