crt monitors are overwhelming me!

Hey everybody, I picked up quite the project recently, my buddy and I got in with our local school district for computer and electronics disposal. We have picked up about 250 towers and monitors in the last month. I'm not really liking this huge pile of crt's taking up my storage space. I thought I would throw it out there to the members and see if anyone is interested in the monitors, I'm in south east Washington state. I don't want anything for them but I would like to see them all gone.

does your local goodwill recycle them ? Check goodwill online, your area will have a regional headquarters somewhere in the region, contact them with an email about the monitors. They're not concerned about the insides of them, so I'd still at least pop the backs off and toss the collars into a barrel for later breakdown, then pop the cover back on it and toss it in the trailer for delivery to be recycled

Thanks Bear, I was aware that Goodwill does take them, just not sure on quantity, my main problem is time and storage are both in short supply. I may have to go thru Goodwill, if I do ,I will be breaking them down for the goodies.

what Bear said. To me, ya have to take the good with the bad. I just got back from taking a load of monitors to a Goodwill. I think we have one more this week and we will have processed a total of 200+ since May 1. While I moaned every minute I had the teenagers working on them, the stack of yolks and degaussing wire that are filling up 55gal drums in the shed, I will fooSHOO bez a grateful fur come da fall! Yep, by then, them kids will have forgot about all that pain, and me, well...after there back in school and the prices go back up, (imma prayin) Imma gunna have me a nice little yolk smashing party alllllllllll by myself Good Luck and God Bless, BroJer

I went to a couple of different goodwills several times and and when I went the third time to a particular one they turned me down (these were broken down monitors). So fyi, you should be able to take a bunch of broken down CRTs a couple of time but, they might turn you down at some point. If they arent broken down I dont see why they wouldnt take all of them.

Also, another way that I get rid of them is at a private local dump transfer station by my house that takes as many crt's (broken down or not broken down) as you want for free. Hopefully there is something like that by your place.

When they turn down be sure to point out that on the dell/goodwill partnership website it does state you can bring them in any condition including broken glass, etc as long it's in a box and marked as such. So whether it's empty or not shouldn't matter, the website does say all tv's/monitors.
