I found out yesterday that a yard about 20 miles away will buy whole crt's for $.04 a pound. Would you guys sell them whole, or continue to break them down. Thanks. I've learned a lot from you guys.

The answer depends on your personal situation. I personally break each monitor down because I have more time on my hands than material. I also have a place that takes monitors for free once they have been broken down. So in my situation, it well worth my time and effort to break them down. I would say if you have the time and can dispose of the monitors in an enviromentally safe way after they are broken down, then continue to break them down.
Is that for monitors only or for tv's as well?
At $0.04 per pound an average Monitor would get you about $1.00
An average 27" TV could get you $2.
Although hauling enough of them to make a lot of money would be difficult. I can only fit about 12 decent sized tv's in my truck at once, which wouldn't really justify a trip to the yard based on the payout.
And based off the average weight you would make quite a bit more by breaking them down yourself. If you dont have the time, and you come across them for free then it would be worth adding them to your load when you go to the yard.
since I don't have the time to do the 22 crt's I have cause im breaking down other stuff lol... I find crt's are better than tv/s for internal goodies. so ya I would break them down and as the other guy said make sure you can dispose of the tube and stuff safely and legally, some states and cities have laws about that so check with your local and state govt. and or dump site
or where you take them for free.. the lowest I paid for just the tubers to be refine is 10 cent a pound charged to Me.

Best buy and goodwill have a disposal program for tv and crt (<32" and no wooden console generally) for free. Just pull the cables and the yoke and put the cover back on...I wont spend any more time on them....and really dont take them all that often as the roi for me is not enough when I can do 2-3 desktops in the same amount of time.
