Gold in CRT monitor board?

I got a shock today after stripping a board from a CRT monitor. I looked at the botom, and it looks like there's gold plating on the botom. What do you guys think? Is this just copper, or is it gold, and do you see this from time to time? Anyone have a buyer for more than low grade for these (considering they're stripped of copper, AL, and EPROMs).


These pictures are of the botom of the board and I am holding up a known piece of gold plating to it.







I apologize in advance if this has been answered! I did search. My rule of thumb has been if it's possibly gold, it's worth asking!

Logically I'm sure it SHOULD be copper. The pictures aren't that great. It's the same color as the gold - just a little duller, which I'm guessing is because of some protective film covering on the board. Pure speculation on my part here.

Logically, It would not make sense to be plated with gold, but dumber stuff has happened. Check in an open area and scrape thru the finish(varnish) and see if it looks copper under it, it may be a "gold" colored varnish. And the varnish is to protect from shorting out.

This is why people should have a test kit. Mostly to not lose precious metals by not testing. Kits are about $15 on Amazon
