Brown boards are low grade. Alot of the guys here just throw it in with shred.
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Can you get a pic of the silver fingers? I don't see them in the one above. Jord is pretty much right tho, usually brown means shred/low grade, unless there is something good on there. I'm no expert on grading but that's how I do it.

If there is buttons on there, be sure to pop'm open, you'll find a gold disk/silver disk depending on what it came out of. Some times you'll be surprised in the difference in some boards. An example..usually when I get home phones, there isn't much in them but a green board with brown sides, speaker, etc. I just popped one open, an found the green top/brown bottom board had some gold on it(epoxied over of course..grr! but I can see it!) an a smaller board with a lot more gold on it. I was amazed as usually the types of home phones I get suck an not much goodies. Same with LNB, Cable/sat box boards. Sometimes you'll find a nice surprise in them.

Guess what I'm trying to say is....just cause you open a lot of something, don't always assume you'll find the same results as some items will trick you an surprise you with what you find on the inside.

As always your mileage may vary.

Are you guys throwing them in shred so they don't take up so much room? I am getting .30 per pound for low grade boards. I throw them in a Gaylord til full then take them in. Was a little shocked to see that.

Check the legs on that silver top transistor that is setting inside that heatshield, might have gold legs.

are you breaking down scrap in the front of the car ? I've seen posts about being short of work space, but i'm afraid this one about takes the prize.

I'm no expert on boards but I would pop open the little cubical aluminum enclosures--they are IF transformers and might have a little copper coil in them. Also, the end of the CATV wire has a metal connector--it might be brass under the chrome.

EDIT: Just had a closer look at the cubical aluminum boxes on the board--they might be switches--can't tell.
Also, as Bear said, are you working out of your car?

The silver fingers are in the top pic on the left side. Must have salt water in your eyes.

A lot of the guys just throw them in the shred pile cause they only get around .05 lb for the low grade and they get more for the shred.

If I can get up around 50-100 lb at a time then my yard will pay me .18 lb.

Ok like they said..low grade brown board...I get .20 pound but have to take it about an hour...luckily they also buy my other low payout ewaste so I take a large load at a time.

And silver finger trim off and save, look for copper bearing, many of the little silver rectangles have silver contact in them, if going into shred pukl that aluminum heatsink, pull any ic chips and tantalum, any switches generally have a gold or silver contact in them, and of course clip any wires.

The crazy Canadian from the far north speaks truth. Keep at it, an you'll find the good stuff.

Being stubborn in this game pays off. Keep plugging away an you'll find the good stuff, an usually in the oddest places. Heh.

This reminds me of one of my first posts. I had a brown board out of a stove or something similar.
