    Actually you could probably do well to take the model numbers from the back of any old boards in question and check ebay, just be aware that if it isn't found for sale there doesn't guarantee it isn't rare/wanted

    That's really about the only way, is start searching the unknown, then as you get that group sorted out, move on to another one.
    In time you'll know by looking at something whether to scrap it, save it for better than scrap, or if you'll need to do a search on that piece
