What are you gettin for TV/Monitors? May 2014

Today I unloaded 437lbs of tvs and monitors(5tvs and 4 monitors) at...

0.12#!!!! What!? Never seen TVs go for more than shred price. 2 floor model TVs could land you 50-60 alone.

    Anyone else gettin paid this?

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Whaaaaaaaaaaat...where do you go that friggin BUYS TVs? It's like pulling teeth just to get a yard or dump to take them for free!

My yard refuses tv's , the landfill here disposes of them free of charge . Just my personal situation. If I were you I would ride that train till it stops because I don't know of a single yard that buys them . I would have been rich if my yard did by them . I made a nice contract with a man who clears out old stock from the big screen store . He offered to bring me a box truck a month for free. But to recycle these properly after gutting leaves no room for profit . Sadly I declined the offer after receiving only one load.

Oh I plan on it. The price actually went up. Last weekend it was .10# I guess they found a buyer for the glass? I dunno cause there sure isnt 5-10 bucks worth of copper in a TV.

How much is the lead in cathode ray tubes worth if someone found a way of getting it out?

Would you be willing to tell us the source? Nobody in south Texas will pay for tv's. Thank goodness for Best Buy's recycling program, I unloaded 8 stripped tv's this week.

For that you would simply multiply your weight in lead by the going rate for a lb. of said lead at your local yard .....

I have never researched all that would be involved . I'm not a big fan of sharp glass , but I would imagine doing that safely and legally would cost a lot more than the lead recovered. I may have read somewhere that the recovery rate would be about 8% of said tubes weight . Don't hold me to that for some reason I believe it's less than that . The only lead I own is in my tackle box.

Yeah delivered to your door is great but it took me a week just to get through the beasts . The box truck was about 26 ft had a 73 inch beast Mitsubishi and a few sonys that were over 400 pounds a piece . I can't show up at the landfill with a truck load of tubes . They don't recycle the glass they just dispose of them . Plus it is about $120 a load if they think your commercial or if they see you more than 6 times a year. I couldn't find a recycler that would make the time involved profitable considering I'm dealing with thousands of pounds of wood, and paying to dispose of tubes.

If you know of a local place to take tubes please let me know ,I just wanted to make sure that they were being recycled and not just disposed of .

What are you gettin for TV/Monitors? May 2014

If could make only 50 cents off of TVs and tires i could be a qabazillonaire lol. I have to pay to dispose of both of them. Re treaders are so dang picky I just charge to pick up and pay the disposal. My oldest son is only a sophomore and just passed physics. I'm hoping he finds a solution! Maybe turning tubes and tires into a machine that solves global warming.

I have a PDF somewhere that talks about the process being done in new York State to remove lead and glass. My understanding is that it is so far a heavily subsidized barley break even deal. It was well beyond my ability to even follow the engineering and chemistry in the article. When I get home I can try and post a link. If they ever get the power back on

Just unloaded 75 tube tv's and monitors as well as 75 printers and I gave the guy $100 to take them. Got paid from pick-ups for half the tv's. Get the stuff out of my way I don't make much money on.

Near Ottawa here, getting .08 cents a pound! They must have their wires intact or else its .04 cents! I used to cut the wires off them. I've got a big pile of TV's at home, my wife decides to help me so she cuts the wires off!

Not her fault, but she cut my profits in half.

Im in Barrie Ontario. Its just a local yard. They only have two locations so its not even a massive company. They dont care if the wires are cut or not.

They MUST have found a buyer for the glass and plastic. Or sell to a recycling facility who has buyers for em, cause i cant see getting more than 5 bucks in copper even from a large TV.

Hate to break it to ya but we get 0.80 per tire. Just unloaded 260 of em in march and are back up to over 200 tires.

Actually Jord the gov. in pitching in on the recycling giving kickbacks to the recycle companies. Guess we are sort of lucky...
