Ugh if I were just a LITTLE bit closer, it would be worth getting my EDL and hauling all those TVs over the border

jord I'm so jealous, I even bought a cheap jigsaw to make some of those tire swings that look like saddles.

    Matty,

If you have room to set up a shop and store 44 pallets of electronics (tvs and monitors included), I can give you the name of a company in Buffalo. You have to act as a free electronic drop off site. They come pick up when you have a trailer load (44 pallets). They quoted me 4 cents a pound last fall, with a 1 year contract.

It's insane to think you get paid the same for tires that my yard pays for insulated wire . It's really interesting to hear the group of older gents talk of days past . Where ya got .45 # for copper. And .04 # for shred . There is a few guys i know who are very friendly and always share stories or advise .

Nevermind .04 cents for shred. I know a guy that started to haul in the late 50's. He had his own scrapyard. He was getting $20 a ton and driving 100 miles to drop off.

im only 34 years old and when i started junking,,,shred was .85 cents per hundred, cars were 1.35, short iron was 2.25... copper stayed between 60 to 80 cents per pound ....i remember cars jumped to 5.00 per hundred and i thought i was going to be rich.....
there was very little competition back then....when the prices rose it created a bunch of new scrappers .....not to mention that lots of folks think there scrap is worth way more than it is now..

I am in Oshawa and would be curious to know where you take them for .15/#

yard closest to me is paying .12/# tv's and monitors and they don't say that they have to be complete

I wish I was getting $0.15/lb. Here in Norcal I am getting $0.05/lb. Can be stripped of components and does not matter what the bezel/frame is made of. Only requirement is that the tube be intact.
