What type of LCD monitors/TVs have this type of part?

Some time ago I took apart a few small LCD monitors. One part that I kept was a piece of plastic which was part of the "layered cake" that a typical LCD monitor has as its screen. It's made of translucent plastic, is the size of a laptop screen, but what makes it different from most other plastic screen layers I have pulled out is that (i) it's thick (maybe about 5 mil) and (ii) it's hard.

This is a question to those who know a lot more about LCD technology that I do (which is probably most people on this forum): what types of LCD monitors/TVs might have this type of thick hard plastic "layer"? I am asking because I want to find a part like this, but bigger, I need at least 33" horizontally or vertically, to repurpose for a special project. (If I succeed, I'll post photos of that project in a separate thread)

I have not taken apart that many LCDs but from what I remember, no other one that I've processed has a part like that. That is, they all have layers but they all seem to be thin and flexible rather than thick and rigid.

So am I likely to find a part like this as large as I need? Is this older technology and they don't make them like that anymore? Or some specific type/make/model uses them? I am just trying to make my search a bit more focused, or maybe abandon it altogether if I know in advance I won't find what I need. Thx

I haven't take a lot of screens apart, mostly Dell's (17"-19"). They all had this thick plastic plate too. I can't speak to other brands or sizes. If you can't find what you need for free I would try McMaster Carr. You will pay more but you will get exactly what you need.

Thanks for the link, never heard of them before, so will keep it for future reference.

However, part of this project is in the "dumpster diver spirit" to cannibalize the piece that I need from some broken LCD monitor or TV and to pay $0 for it!

Will try to get my hands on a bigger Dell screen and see if I get lucky

That plastic is in all of them, it disperses the light from the bulbs so you get a even lighting on the screen.

Yep, as said above I find them in all my flat screens.

You might try the larger DLP's or rear projection TVs. I broke down a 50 some inch rear projection and still have the plastic sheets. When I get home, I'll check the thickness of the layers. I also have two larger DLP's I need to break down, and I'll let you know what I find. One has a bad bulb, the other a bad color wheel. I don't think there is enough value in resell to fix either one, plus I want the DLP chips.
