is this worth a 20 mile round trip??

Someone on CL here is offering for free 10 LCD monitors. I've scrapped a couple of LCD monitors and tvs and I'm not impressed with what's left over for scrap but I do have to admit that I need to get out of a yoke, degaussing cable, Al heat sinks and the other set ups a CRT system mindset and think more about board harvesting I guess. I suspect that the couple of boards in a LCD monitor and its power cables are probably the most valuable pieces as scrap. Its probably in the old threads in this section of the forum that I'll admit right now I haven't researched today so if that's your answer, yeah I get it.



I could probably keep one as a spar/replacement for my current monitor, put a couple out during our upcoming rummage sale, and scrap the other 7. I might as well use the storage unit space I have...

Somebody closer and not at the office must have thought it was a good deal. I saw it at about 40 minutes into the listing. Now 2.5 hours later, the listing is gone

our resident shipper is currently buying at a good price. you should look into that before scrapping.

It's a dead issue now but size matters. There's not as much demand for the smaller monitors so the cost to ship could be more than the value you receive for them. It's all situational.

Pretty much the same with scrapping them out. It's best to weigh up the boards you salvaged & figure out what their value is. Balance that against your shipping costs to see what your net profit would be. It would make sense for some and not for others.
