He shears the tires off the rims and crunches up engine and tranny to be thrown in the cast iron to be broken pile. The frame and axles get moved to me (the burner) and cut up for heavy melt. Trailers are treated the same way. The whole process takes about 15 minutes
What kinda weight are they on average when the show up at the yard? Just the tractor. Thats crazy though only 15 mins... Wow.

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

I have no idea on the weight, since I'm located a fair distance from the scalehouse. But,if I had to guess,I would say 6 or 7 ton per tractor on average. We get some long haul units that are much heavier. These are the ones with double frames that are a pain to cut. Lately,we have been getting old cement trucks that I have to tenderize first by dropping a ball on them a few times to try and break off some off the cement so I can cut them

Beer cans won out in the more profit then the Hot Wheels did. LOL.

Sirscrapalot - I wake up every morning at nine and grab for the morning paper. Then I look at the obituary page. If my name is not on it, I get up. - Benjamin Franklin, yes that one.
