some places here still charge $5 a tire, but the city dump takes them for free.

It use to be that you always had to pay to get rid of tires and people were dumping them on the side of the road or in wooded areas so to try and prevent the government started a program so the city dumps started taking them for free as long as that was all you were taking in at the time.

there are some places that will pay .50/tire or a bit more but there are non that I have found close enough to me to make it worth wile. They also make rubber mulch from tires now too, I have some around our above ground pool.
