Hey JGlino - so do you get significantly more by removing the honeycomb ?
I am selling 100 cats per month right now and would be willing to strip the honeycomb out if it was worth the time.

Yes i get 100% more on the converters by removing the honeycomb not counting the additional labor costs as the savings on shipping costs offsets that, i use a chop say to do flush cuts with honeycomb, finish the job with a angle grinder, if you just going for crushed honeycomb at $20 per pound you can just ram rod it out. I sell as intact bricks as it nets the most money and my time is not an issue. I will state that theres been a few converters where ive been breakeven do to so little honeycomb in them or even a small loss, but in general its a 100% return or better over whole converters.
paid $200 for this one, going to get in the $500-$700 range for it, already turned down a $450 offer:

Climber and Carolina seem to be right on with their grading, except maybe the first one. In the picture it is hard to tell if there is a flange. If not, I would almost say that the first one is a diesel cat.
As far as removing the honeycomb...DON'T DO IT! I don't know of ANY buyer that pays more if the comb is removed. Think about it for a second. If you were to remove the honeycomb then how would your buyer know if it came out of an aftermarket or an exotic? They wouldn't. The exotic would have significantly higher traces of precious metals. The price difference between the 2 is about $200. Maybe if you have 1000's of cats a month that you are shipping directly to a refiner you would remove the honeycomb, but who on this forum is doing that kind of volume?
Speaking with a dozen buyers over the last year I have been quoted between $6-$20 lb. for loose comb, but after doing a cost analysis, never have I ever been quoted more for loose comb.
That's a nissan the toyota one would have a code and look a little different but id do 105 on the small the secound pic will go a for pre because the way its grated ur looking at 34. The next 2 ur looking at 2 high regs 67 each and the small bread ur looking at 128 so the one guy was only off a little got any more? And the loose come unless u get it refined it ain't worth taking out unless ofcourse urstuffing a honda lol.
