If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Hauled 7,280 lbs today. Lousy $150/ton. About 3,400 of that was a car. Vehicles pay $170 (or did last week) yet tin and cars is at $150. Usually this yard has a $20/ton spread between the two. I asked what was up. Said metal is down and left it at that.
The yard I go to, the receipt says tin/car bodies. whether I bring tin or a car. If I bring tin, I get $150/ton. If I bring cars/trucks/vehicles I get $170 (or whatever the going rate is at the time). I was just saying there's usually a $20/ton difference between tin (appliances, water heaters, shred, etc versus vehicles.
I'm annoyed because I would have gotten $170/ton last week. But prices are falling and it is what it is.
For a while they were advertising a guaranteed $300 for any complete car, but I was making more grabbing the goodies and then hauling it in. But that was when prices were near $200/ton.

Here in FL I have place that pays $240 / ton for complete vehicles and $145 ton if it's missing motor and/or trans. I was also told if I can consistently bring in 2 vehicles or more per day that I can get the price raised.
Went to yard today. Last week 9.00 a lb. Today 8.25 a lb = 165.00 a ton.
The good thing i'm seeing a lot more on the curb. Filled truck today an its not even trash day.
If thats the way its going to be. Let it drop some more.
$145 here right now for mixed shred/white goods, theyre paying $16o for cars with no tires and hole in gas tank. Have 10+ stripped cars right now waiting to be hauled in. I have a local outlets for all of my tires and wheels so getting rid of those is not an issue even bald tires.
Cars came up 10 Dollars on Monday
Now $170.00 a ton
I don't have to remove or drain anything where I take them
Prices should be rising a bit due to over seas demand. My guess is after elections they are going to sky rocket for a bit then settle again until summer.
And when buying large amounts of any scrap you should always call to check on prices weekly tell them what you have and ask what prices are going to do that week.
