depends where you are from, and where you take it. For some yards, you don't need the title, others you do. Usually the frame bears the title. US or Canada?
At my yard it would not be a problem, no title no problem. Just sign this paper and off you go.
They are used to seeing me though.
The best first time scrapping vehicle is one thats about 6 months from the scrapyard.
Because, within six months, you will find a better deal on another one....
First time scraping guide, you should drain all of the liquids from the car. Than remove all removable items from your vehicle. Find a scrap yard whether local or is doing business in an environmental friendly way. Ask questions from the scrapper about how he does with the metal from the vehicle. Finally Took your car to scrap during a slow period at the scrap yard.
This will make your car weigh less = less $
I don't think he means ALL removable items. As a minimum, get the "candy" items. (cat, battery, alternator,) I leave the radiator, some don't, its some trouble and you lose weight from having less coolant.
Good luck.
Why? You are a customer too.
I bought the truck for parts. So I am in the process of stripping out EVERYTHING. Going down to bare steel and all, because the parts have more value to me than scrap price. Heres my question: I bought the truck and got a bill of sale and title. I want to avoid transferring the title, since it will add to the $ Ive got into the truck. What really pisses me off is the fact that my yard requires a title. By the time they get the "vehicle" it will be a shell. No chance of it being driven. Any ways you think I can get around their policy? I thought about just showing up with the truck on a trailer and having the bill of sale and title in hand. Maybe then they won't refuse me. I think it would look sketchy taking in pieces of the truck... I have also thought about the craigslist scrappers who say "no title no problem"
The yard that I sell vehicles to requires a title only on complete vehicles. If I cut the car in half or better yet, quarters, and take in to the yard in different loads, they don't care. Also, you shouldn't have to transfer the title into your name, as long as the VIN matches.
Ill ask them about that sometime this week ( I drive past everyday to school). I saw your from IN. Where do you go?
Oh, Im near northwest IN (Gary). Its a 91 isuzu trooper.

I have been to Morristown a few times myself. At last call- they were at $175/ton vs $200/ton out at Greensburg.. if you happen to have a distance consideration Diamond.. For me they are nearly the same miles so I will go where the pay better. Thought I'd throw that out to you if you were unaware of Greensburg.
Well I checked in with my yard. I have taken the doors, hood, and tailgate doors over separately; im surprised i havent questioned! Anyways I do have the title, but it is just not in my name. It was signed by the PO, which is all the yard requires. Pretty good news for me! Maybe I will start going into the vehicle scrapping business!
