    for the car guys

we had been looking at new straps for a while now, I wanted the ratchet straps where I would weld the ratchet to the trailer and you would thread the strap through the ratchet, while looking I came across these and ended up changing my mind, rated at 10000 lbs four straps, ratchets, axle straps, and one tool bag. why I went ahead and got these instead ive never messed with the axle straps before but sometimes its hard to find a place to hook to and with these you just wrap it around anything, ive only hauled the car shown below but I think im going to like them really well, im sure there are others but what I got is the pro pack on summit racing priced just under 140 after shipping, just wanted to share

Boy that strap doesn't look wide enough to stop a rolling dead weight if it had to. I guess looks can be deceiving. I know here in Indiana the company's that deliver the custom vans use chains (and binders- DOT approved) with axle hooks but no straps that I know of.

we used straps very similar to that when i was working for a towing company, we used only padded axle straps or basket/wheel straps on exotic(expensive) cars never had them. if you are having a hard time finding places to hook onto a J/Cluster chain assembly like this

I have a set of 4 of axle straps I picked up at my trailer shop. They are invaluable! I also carry (6) 27'-2" Wide, 3,333lb rated Tie Downs on my rig, I can secure the car at 4 points as well as run a strap over the hood and the trunk and strap them to my pocket stakes, If ever that trailer became airborne for some reason, the car is all but bolted down to the trailer, if you shake the car- you shake the trailer.

I also, like you cory, use the "hook ends" instead of the flat hook ends, in a pinch you can get the hood ends into a hole in the frame or the manufactures hooks they place on vehicles, where the flat hook ends are too wide to do so.

For pulling vehicles onto my trailer- I use a set-up similar to what joef1812 showed, I have a set of 15" G70 "J-Hooks" that hook at the front or back axle and winch whatever I need up onto my rig.
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
