Question about a Cadillac Northstar Motor

    Hi Fellow Scrappers
Well since the price of mixed scrap has been down I have not taken any mixed to the yard. I have been focusing on selling parts and preparing my metals. The question is I was able to get a 1997 Northstar motor. I have it listed how ever I was told that there was two different motors for that year. I guy said to check the vin and on the eith digit should be a y or a 9. Since I'm not that knowledgeable about that motor any help is needed. The car along with the title has been taken to the yard. Is there a vin on the motor. If so where would I look.
    Thanks
    Cedric

Some times there's a vin on it but don't kno where. There should be a stamp on the block somewhere identifying the engine
