a) Never done this before....
b) Closest thing I have done I letting a car set out back and pull parts
c) I have been selling Saturn Parts online for a bit.....
d) Tools- 2 Dewalt Drills, 1 Dewalt 3/8 impact, 1 Dewalt (DW059K) 1/2 impact, most of your general Junkyarding tools... not many specialty
e) No Full size car trailer, have been using dolly (long distances) & tow strap (short distances)
d) I have been told by my father that the Saturn Must be gone by Beginning of the year (he does not know about the Ford yet....)
d) The cars
2002 Saturn SC2
No Engine, Trans, Rims, Battery, or Rear Bumper
Curb Weight- 2,436 Pounds
I went over and bought this car, knowing it would be worth it via my Saturn Parts Knowledge- (Panels, Steering Wheel, Seats, PCM,.... extra)
Invested:
Time- 3 hours Getting Car
Time- 1.5 Hours Getting Tires from Junkyard (Had to get rims/tires)
Money- $60 Gas
Money- $50 Dolly Rental
Money- $250 Car
Money- $40 2 Tires/Rims at Junkyard
I plan on grabbing (to sell... whole reason I bought the car):
Panels, Doors, Steering Wheel, Seats, ECM, PCM, Cluster, Radio, Airbags, E-brake, shifting cables, lights, Sub-frames and others.....
I am going to have to have JY haul off the caucus.... (they will pay for it just not as good as if you bring it in....)
Scrap wise:
(has a plastic radiator)
CAT
o2 sensors (reading from here)
As much of wiring harness as possible.... Dirty Copper
What else should I grab?
1997 Ford Tausus GL Station Wagon
Blown Head Gasket
Curb Weight- 3505 Pounds
3.0 Liter V6 w/SFI
Friends Car..... They broke down on Toll Road.... Had to tow it back to my place and let it set.... They found out Blown Head Gasket and now wanting to sell it for scrap....
I told them I would pay them Scrap weight for it as if they run it across the scales
I said curb weight X Scrap price- Is this how you normally determine the true scrap weight of the car.... (I know that often some yards are minus a bit) what would you give for True Scrap Weight (Like I said I'm doing this for a friend to help her out)
I plan on grabbing (to sell and make additional money of the Scrap Weight of the Car):
Tires (brand new), ECM, PCM, Cluster, Radio, Airbags, and anything that I can sell on Craigslist.....
Scrap wise:
Radiator
CAT
Alternator, Starter, AC motor
o2 sensors (reading from here)
As much of wiring harness as possible.... Dirty Copper
On this car I'm not as worried about stripping it completely and setting on parts.... I would like the quickest most efficient way to make $$$ on this car.
Thanks for your help
