Daewoo converters

I don't get many of these, I think this is my fourth, around here $200 is the average starting price for a car. Before I say anything else I assume the converters are empty so I'm not disappointed. "Expect the worst hope for the best". So far the daewoos I've have had a 4dot which is about $75. The pre behind the oil filter on the pic looks like a breadloaf except it's only about 4 inches long(I don't know the industry term for this converter). I got 35 for my last one like this. I'll be in work mode Monday morning but I'll try to remember to take pics taking the converter off the manifold. One of the reasons I'm posting this is 4dots and bread loafs are typically GM products. Kias and Hyundai (which I consider similar) have a converter with a shield with Kia/Hyundai stamped on them.

I think Daewoo and GM had a thing goin for a little while. Up her we have a wonderful gem called the Chevy Optra. None of our scan tools at work list them. We have to connect to it as a Daewoo just to access codes and data. I think its Daewoo anyway...

after 2001 GM owned Daewoo i think they now call it GM Korea, but it wouldnt suprize me to find GM emission parts on them

These goofy GM-partnership cars come with all kinds of weird cats. I've seen the 4-Dots on the Daewoos. The Chevy Aveos use a junky little Suzuki cat that bolts to the manifold. The Chevy Prizms around 2000-01 (maybe 02) actually have a very good cat, the U94 Toyota "Camry" style. It's a small cat that only weighs around 4 pounds, but its proper grade is Medium Import, putting its current value around $100. The less-honest core buyers like to mis-grade it and buy it cheap due to its small size.

Sparrow, do you know what they call the baby breadloaf on the manifold, and does $35 sound about right to you.

That sounds similar to the Aveo cat. $35 is about what they bring now. At one time, they went as a Square AC around $65, but apparently, the refiners found that many of them were not worth that much, so they knocked the grade down on them (I hate when that happens). Come to think of it, the Aveos are Korean-built, too, so it's likely the same exact cat.

Edit- As far as the grade for them, my guys called my last one an Import Pre, but I got a bit more than a traditional Import Pre usually pays. It's kind of an oddball that doesn't really fit in anywhere.

Is that a Daewoo Laganza? I had a 1999 but gave it to my dad when I got my Tacoma. Worst car Ive ever owned.
But when ever i needed parts, I had to go to a Kia dealership to get the parts ordered from Korea.

OK, now I recognize that cat. It's not the Suzuki one I was thinking of. It's a high-grade GM pre, $40-45 range. Same grade as the round pre on the Blazers and S-10s. The junky Suzuki/Aveo ones look like that, but a bit bigger.
