    Possible Quick Flip

My brothers friend just came over and told me about his brothers 04 Ford Explorer having overheating problems. Told him id fix it for a couple hundred. Said his brother just wants to get rid of it. Considering it weighs about 4300 with the 4.0, I offered $500 because i know i can make at least $700 off the parts alone. If i fix it and there are no other major issues, i would sell it for $1500 - $2000. Still waiting on a response right now. Ill let you all know what happens

Ah, the trust Ford Exploder. Mate, seriously just send it to the crusher. The world will be a better place without it.

Im not a huge fan of the "Exploders" either but when you lose half your tools in a flood, have no other form of income, and have a truck that needs an engine rebuild (among other things), you really need to get as much money as you can out of anything you have

I say maximize and fix n sell. People are over paying for cars right now because have tax money. Here in nc you could get about $3000 for that fixed truck right now!

I have my peraonal 2002 Acura RSX that im trying to dump for $3000. 257k kms (not miles) leather, sunroof, top of the line car from its year. Still in great shape. Not a single call in a month so far. Thats a friggin steal where im from. Next cheapest iv seen is $3200. Base model, higher kms. Nobodys buying. Iv also got a 97 civic with a rebuilt motor im trying to dump for $400 and also nothing. This is why I rarely resell my cars I buy for scrap. Over paid for this civic in hopes of sellin it for parts. No bites in over a month. Last time I ever do that!

Sometimes it depends on how popular the cars are in your area. Chevy Blazers, Ford Explorers, and mid 90s Ford F series pickups are VERY popular around here. Drive around for 5 minutes here and youre guaranteed to spot at least 5 of each. Thats also why i part out those vehicles more often than any others. Have you tried putting it on Ebay in an auction? Thats what i had to do with my Galaxie. Tried for 2 months to sell it locally. Took 4 days to sell it on Ebay

Gents: IT IS TAX TIME.. You can sell any running P.O.S. right now for a decent price- put the $ into the repair.. I can't tell you how many people are out bragging they have their tax check right now. In fact I have 3 guys that all have cars they want.. if I can get them!

They are pretty popular here in town. I see one every time im out. Kids love them. They are quick little rice rockets. The base model has the same engine as the Civic Si. So very popular to kids who like cheap fast cars. Idk if id trust ebay to sell my car... its complicated enough selling computer parts... dont really wanna get involved in selling a car.

Civics i see pretty often too. Most people around my age love them for some reason. If it were in Michigan, i could get you a buyer for that no problem

I never got involved in the whole "The Fast and The Furious" scene that all these guys my age are doing. Id rather have my hot rod 86 C10 with open headers than the plastic Japanese stuff i see everywhere

Ha, Lurch me neither buddy. I had a 81' honda civic I bought from my cousin for 500 bucks way back in the mid 90's. Ugliest little thing you'd ever see.. Brown, faded..but that sucker had been across the US 5 times, been to europe, it finally died back in 2001, right after 9/11, I had to leave it out in Tucson, cause I couldn't get it fixed to bring back east with me.

That little sucker went till it's last breath.

Me..I'm no fast an furious type. I use a mini-van for my scrapping an an love it. lol.

Knew what he was doing tho. It's a fun show even if it is one of those reality ones. Roy was a true character tho.

He made the show, with his grouchiness. Heh.

Now an then I have to watch something stupid. lol.

Roy died from heart failure right?

Reminded me of a MORE than life sized Oscar the Grouch.

If you have the time to fix it up, why not? Just be realistic though, time is money. If you have to cut your losses just strip and clean parts to sell.

I prefer domestics but those older foreign cars always get me. Im 20 now, hadnt got my license until i was 18, and within that time ive had 8 cars. Unfortunately none were old foreigns but 2 of which were minivans. I LOVE THEM. Decent gas mileage and the ability to haul most anything a pickup could. We even towed a trailer with a civil war era wagon on it (a little over 5000#s) with a minivan. The backend was bottomed out and the trans was unhappy but it made it 90 miles and still drives today. Like we always say, "Minivans are expendable."
