    aftermarket?

    [IMG][/IMG]

looking under a 2002 Sunfire looks aftermarket to me but not sure. I know its hard to see, its round with a seam, no sign of spotwelding. Maybe a flow?

I got a call this morning, a young guy with a new job teaching, the car overheated now junk, no discussion of price or for the tow, he was in a hurry. Just picked it up on the highway and took it to my place. So I should charge for a tow also...

We are going to talk price, hence the cat question, because the yard is only paying 170 a ton now, car is 2644 lbs so 224.74, at .085 cents a pound. offer 125$? need to make at least 100$ to make this worth it.

That looks like a "Round Bread" or an Xbody2- You should net between $130 and $160 off it- if it is full.
    Buy it- you've hit paydirt!

Are you serious sledge? Did not think that was possible on a Sunfire? Have you had this type on a Sunfire? If so I'm glad I asked, was thinking of leaving it there! ( I get 5$ on an aftermarket..)

Serious as can be man. I was shocked too. I scrapped a 2001 Sunfire- it had an Xbody2 on it- $160.. If you cut it off don't worry if it says "Flow" on it like a lot of aftermarkets do- it was the real deal GM- and got hella paid!

Scrapped a 1999 Cavalier- it had a "Round Bread" on it- $152!

Those little hunks o' junk have saweeet cats on em!

That's what we call a medium GM, prices above are correct depending on your yard 80 to 120

Edit, sledges prices may seem high but they are not, there are lots of core buyers from Indiana, I've had two come to my house and arkansas to Indiana is a drive

Yep.. In this one little town in Indiana there are about 10 different core buyers- prices are competitive! And they will travel for decent loads of em!

Would this also be considered a "round bread"? Removed from a 94 Grand AM.

That looks like a large bread, it's flat at the bottom and slightly narrower at the top (hence bread loaf)
That is a sweet cat btw nice find

lg loaf worth $90-100 like sledge said, if you get one that is about 3/4 as long as that (as long as there not off a rondevous), they are worth $25 morth. best off cutting off all the pipe and tossing it in the car/shred as most cat buyers want to see inside

Yeah if I end up selling it to a core buyer I will cut it off but I am going to try Ebay first, see if I can get any bites. Thanks guys!

Sorry I'm a bit late to chime in here, but yes, those little 4-cylinder GM junkers often have great cats. The one in your picture is a Large Flow, Dave. They go by number, and almost all of them are X-Body grade. The only ones that aren't are the 25178565 and 99433567. Those two numbers are actually pretty rare to encounter, and they'll still pay a Large AC/Medium GM price so they're not that bad.

On the Roundloaf (the smaller ones without the seam going around), the good numbers of those are also X-Body grade. You will find more bad ones on the Roundloaf than you will the Large Flow, but the good Roundloaf cats still seem to outnumber the bad in my experience. The bad Roundloaf is terrible, though, they're only worth about 50 bucks. A lot of guys still buy these on an average at around 80-100 each. They're counting on getting the usual mix of more good #s than bad. That's dangerous anymore, all it takes is one savvy junkyard owner to sell a core buyer 10 bad $50 Roundloafs at $100 each (while selling his good ones elsewhere for 130-150) and the unlucky buyer just lost 500 bucks.
