i see the radiator in the front
dont u get paid a separate rate for radiators if u just take the time to remove the metal around the edges?

here we get paid different rates for alum & copper radiators

i originally was going to fix the car! but then i discovered the bottom of the car is rotten! you barely even touch it and the metal falls out of it into dust. also headgasket is gone, oil in the exhaust, cracked block. i would NOT feel comfortable selling someone a car like this knowing its not a safe car! got it from my neighbor where it has been sitting in the grass and for about 2 1/2 years. and being on a gravel road don't help either. explains the body rot.

It's probably a matter of how close you are to a mill. Domestic demand in the US and Canada is up over last year's lows. I remember headlines proclaiming record auto sales recently, for example.

Scrap export is down due to the dollar. The locations paying top dollar are probably selling to US mills.

I have no room to stock pile....... I have to turn and burn unfortunately. I'm not doing as much scrapping as I used to, I'm focused on other stuff at the moment. The only stuff I scrap is stuff I have stockpiled at my house and stuff people bring me. I am lucky enough to know ALOT of people in town and they would rather bring me scrap then throw it in the dump. I have stuff stock piled at my house because I was sick. I'm getting better now so I can get stuff done.

finally had time to go play at the scrap yard today lol. had vehicle plus about 220# misc metal in it, weighed about 2,686 for doge neon.
    $120 a ton x 2,686= 161.16 for the body.
    catalytic converter -$25
    aluminum radiator $0.32lb x 5#= $1.60
    sold tires/rims $10 each x 4= $40
witch came to $177.76 and with the wheels/tires $217.76
not too bad for a dodge neon! now time too sell the decent parts i pulled off it fenders, doors, hood, bumper cover,mirriors,headlights/tail lights, air bags, some motor parts.
