Back to my former scrap source

Hit an auction today and bought a 94 S-10 Blazer for $105 bucks. It has 99K on it. Runs and drives. Needs tires and some body work but had a nice stereo in it. I have the Vortec engine sold for $250. The rest is clear profit including what I will get when it's all used up and headed to the scrap yard. I had all but forgotten about those auctions. Scrap is in the toilet so there had to be a better way to recycle and still make some money. There were many more great deals at the auction but I can only haul one at a time and store maybe four out back. Going back in two weeks for some more cars to part out.

My first week back in the car recycling business worked out fine. Bought a 94 S10 Blazer 4X4 at a tow company auction. Not perfect but ran good. Thought I had the engine sold out of it but the wonders of Craigslist the potential buyer flaked out. So I accepted a cash offer of $600 for the entire vehicle from some young guys who live in near by Apache Junction. I paid $105 for the thing. Kept the stereo and spare tire out of it. That's a $495 profit. With scrap so low it would take me two years to get that much money from shred.
