Around here you can get dumpster service
I went one better and went to the factory where they build dumpsters and bought a second(that's a reject) in a 2 yard. They took $100 off the price and now I pay $16 to dump about once a month. That's cheap trash pickup,,,

All I can say to the OP is boats are worth more working...even if they look crappy..but if they dont take on water an you can get the motor working....ebay them. you will make a nice penny.

I just kind of stumbled onto this thread looking for some thing else and figured i would help / stop some one from making a very costly mistake...

Don't even think of scrapping a boat lol !!! Landfills will refuse to take them unless completely stripped of all marine grade paint. Even then they will still most likely refuse them. The paint is in a lot of cases lead based and is always highly toxic, it's designed to be. The disposal fees alone for the stripped off paint would put you in the hole. You can walk any marina in Florida and you will find plenty of abandoned yachts that the harbor masters will literally give you ! The reason no one takes them... you are talking about $1000's to dispose of them or $100,000's to fix them up. Typically they are gutted and the hulls illegally scuttled or sit for years in dry dock some where. It's sad but that's the reality of old boats.

The bottom paint used now is Cu based. Please check out our new members threads and the sticky threads as well. Also we enjoy getting to know new members with an introduction. Welcome to the forum, Mike.

As usual I have done several boats and they can become alot of work............One individual allowed me to tear down a solid steel house boat in his front yard........LOL......It was well worth it because he let me pile all the waste in his yard and he intended on burning it (Most people wouldn't go for this).....Anyways I have scrapped alot of diff stuff and usually made money in the long run.......It is not worth doing a fiberglass boat unless you get the trailer or it has a large inboard motor (one I did had a 350).....We then cut the fiberglass hull into small pieces which were easier to dispose of...........Anyways mabye this helps
