    Air brake core buyer?

Does anyone know of a company that buys air brake valve cores? I have a Wabco ABS module #4005001030 at the moment but we always have air valves at work.

If there isn't a market for cores, would the electronics be worth anything? I know nothing about ewaste.

    Thanks

I do not know of a buyer and my strategy is to separate the ferrous from nonferrous and sell in that manner. All electronics are sold to a local ewaste scrapper in bulk, maybe every two years.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Only core exchanges for those valves that I know of. Google local trailer shops and give them a call, you might get lucky.

Other than that, a quick separation of components like Patriot76 mentioned is the best bet. Those ECMs and circuit boards are pretty low grade, so those usually go into the "accumulate and dump" pile.

Having said that - failed core, or worn core? I can see if some of the truckers in the shop might be needing some spare parts.

A lot of the bigger truck parts are going no-core. I know a lot of turbos are now, air valves, even some of the brake shoes.

I‘ve recently gone to All American Recycling in Austin to sell my truck parts. It was quick and easy - they divided, weighed, and made on the spot payment. Opened on Saturdays too. You can call for the daily pricing.

    Hi!

This thread is a bit old, but, if you still have some Wabco trailer ABS ECUs, part numbers that starts with "400 500 10", on hand, I would be interested.

They do not need to be in working condition. On the contrary, I’m looking for “scrap” parts for a student project on salvaging electronic components. If you have unserviceable parts lying around, I would be interested in taking them off your hands!

I don't need the valve, just the black rectangular ECU box which holds the electronics. All these part numbers starting with 400 500 10 will do, from 2001 on:

    400 500 101 0
    400 500 102 0
    400 500 103 0
    400 500 104 0
    400 500 105 0
    400 500 106 0

    Cheers,

    Frank

    Thought I'd update this thread.
We have 2 parts guys at work. I originally talked to the one parts guy who said I could take it since there was no core. However, a few weeks later I noticed the other parts guy searching the scrap metal bin so I asked what he was looking for. Turns out we have 2 suppliers for these parts, one wants a core back and the other doesn't. This part was from the company that doesn't want cores but we were short for the other company so I gave it back.
