Have to say Cory, you've done a great job taking the bull by the horns and making it happen.

Looks to me like you had some nice sellable auto's there instead of scrapping them. Unless they all had blown motors.

You're definitely doing something right. I've lost count how many emails or texts asking what I'll pay for XYZ. I tell them what I know I can pay sight unseen, then I usually don't hear back or they say they paid whatever and need more than I can scrap it for.

Need to revamp my strategy. I think from here on out I'll just tell them I have to see the car first before I can make an offer. Sounds like a no brainer but sometimes it takes awhile for an idea to hit me over the head.

Hoping by being in person and showing the cash will get them motivated to sell on the spot.

Just yesterday I had a text about a '90 hatchback Civic. I said I could do $200 to $250 and he went on about how he paid 200 and just wants it gone (okay, I offered 200 to 250?), has full interior, he fixed the clutch cable blah blah blah but needs a fender, throttle spring, etc.

Dude, it's a '90 pos. Sell it or don't. Anyways he asked when I could come. I said now. He hasn't replied. Must not be serious about selling.

thx Kris Kringle, my partner is at his job today ill have him do some research, what brand do you have or recommend? idaho, as far as the remembering who asked what i got a free tip and your gonna use it i promise, we got a metal clipboard with an inside storage compartment at samsclub for like 15 bucks. everytime someone calls about a car we write down their name, number, car, and what we offered. wait a few days because most of the people will call back the next day or even that day after they have checked around at the other guys prices. call them back a few days later see if they have sold it yet if not offer them about 25 more. we have gotten at least 5 like this just keeping the numbers from when they call and making the return calls

we hit 85 today, i got 10 in the yard and to think i was b!tch!ng about being slow a couple weeks ago when i only got two. the best things that has happened since i got the 50 is i got another repo guy, so far ive only gotten one car from this one, and i got hooked up with the wrecker service just last week. i have to pay a little more for his but like i stated already he is close to the house and a round about way on my way back from the yard, the list is in the truck but ive gotten 6 or 7 from him so far and have cleaned up his yard. i bought a buick rivera and abuick lesabre from him today 750 total(i normally try to get these kind of cars for about 300 on the first offer) with 8 aluminum wheels and the cat was already cut off the lesabre. he has about 10 cars in the back fence tied up and he said he wouldnt be able to sell them till next year, plus he understands when i get a call i have to get those first because he is the same way. my girlfriend went with me two days last week while my partner was at work, and after watching me cash out a few times and buying a few vehicles and explaining that the stacks of radiators and wheels scattered everywhere were the same as cash i have had the first week on non b!tch!ing about my yard and i now have her full support and she admitted that she just didnt get it before. anyway i hope i dont jinx myself but i hope in a few weeks or less to post a list of 100 and thanks to all the guys and gals here on the forum for the support

the fire extinguishers have been pushed to the side for the most part freon, i cut up a few every every week basically trying to stay even and usually just toss them in a car, im building up the nozzles for a massive breakdown like i had a few weeks ago.also ive got a dozen or so computers to break down to just gonna save them until the next slow period

Mandmetal, that is the touchiest subject between me and my partner, we both have jobs and mine is a little easier to scrap with, im off from 12 noon on sunday until 12 midnight on thursday or i work 12am to 12pm friday saturday and sunday, then depending on my nights at work i can usually work 2 to 6 hours on the days i work. he is a professional fire fighter and works 24 on and 48 off. the hardest weekend is the one i just got thru on the weeks he works friday he also works monday plus thats his only whole weekend off out of three weeks so thats when he gets his kids. i do put in more hours than him on average but on the mornings im still at work and he doesnt have his kids so i have it 4 days all to myself but i usually only do pick ups during this time unless i have to scrap a car to make some cash to buy a car. he works on friday mornings when he is not at the station and breaks down alum wheels and sometimes has a car scrapped out when i get off. now all that being said the days i work by myself i usually dont pay myself alot, usually 40 bucks or so and at the end of the week we pay ourselves anywhere from 100 to 300(it went up ) depending on our money bag and how many purchases we make. we try to leave enought money in the bag to buy 3 cars. also we have paid my electric bill a few times just because we do most of the work at my house. we do pretty good i think we have been friends for almost 20 years, but 90% of our disagreements have been about money. but we both have most of the same long term goals. the thing we are trying to compromise on now is he wants a rollback and i want to try something different, i want to get one of those lumber trucks with a piggyback forklift and just set the cars on the truck plus we could use it to organize the cars in the yard. in reality we both want both and if my stockpile of scrap keeps growing in the yard we may eventually get them i got off track but to answer your question i pay myself a little if im by myself depending on what i did, and once a week we pay ourselves a pretty good check
