    Gold IC chips

So I was helping my buddy scrap a bunch of stuff from his grandparents garage, he was going to take it all to shred because he's not really a scrapper, but he knew I was and came by and said I could look at it and take what I wanted. I told him he could get a lot more for it if he sorted it out, do it took us like 2 and I got it sorted out with it much work. We took it in and he doubled his money, and then gave me $20. Any ways, there were some circuit boards in there and he said I could have them and some had what looks like gold IC chips and other parts. My question is should I pull them off and sell them or sell the whole board.

Those chips by themselves as scrap are worth about $100/lb give or take. The boards...low grade. I'd pull the chips off.

I don't know where those are on the boards...hard to see in the pic, but I'm going to guess they're transistors. You can clip those off too and save them, although I don't know the value.

OK, maybe I'm just getting old and blind, but I can't even see any IC chips on the boards in the picture. And let's not even talk about the "black things with the two gold legs"! I'm just glad I can ask, 'cause we're all friends here, can you help steer an old dumb guy toward the good stuff that you're seeing?

Yep, I'd unsolder those transistors and save,

You could clip them like was mentioned but you'll get the whole leg if you unsolder them. Don't let the gold blind you tho, those are only flash plated, it take quite a few before you have any real value.

    Gold IC chips

I ended up clipping them because desoldering was tough. How do you tell the difference on such a small piece like those?

Just an FYI for those interested. i have gotten telecom pricing for boards like that from a buyer here on the forum $4.30/lb I believe. All Telecom boards don't have to be green if there is gold

Well now, talk about a "figure-ground" problem! I was never good at "Where's Waldo" either. I will say though, that I have never before seen white IC chips.
