What to do with this beast - Dolch PAC 65

    What to do with this beast - Dolch PAC 65

    Trying to figure out what the heck to do with this thing....
    It's a Dolch PAC 65. Old network sniffer/troubleshooting/laptop thing circa 1999. Up until recently, it was running NT4 on it but the hard drive finally crapped out.

    It has a mechanical keyboard, one of the ones that go all klikity klikity, which I'm thinking if I sell separately I should be able to make around $100 off of(people love their mechanical keyboards). But is their any value in the rest or should it just be scapped? It has a pentium slot processor, so no ceramic. Small motherboard. Big 640x480 display... Beast weighs a good 22 lbs.

    Tempted to just sell off the keyboard and scrap the rest... Not sure yet.

    Holy jeeze, haven't seen one of those in a few years - ebay seems to be the haven nowadays.

    Since it powers up I would sell it intact. I would put it on ebay on 10 day listing and relist it until it sold even if it took a couple months. Unless you find that parts are selling for a lot and quickly then whole is going to make you the most money. Mike

    DO NOT part that out. I had 3 Compaq III, suitcase computers similar to what you have there. Mine had plasma screens, orange display. They are common but I got $50-$75 each for them. The ones I had powered up but had error msgs which did not allow it to get to the bios screen. If yours powers up and functions you may have a nice bit of $$$ there. Check out the Vintage Computer Forum and see if anyone can give you some info on it and if it is rare you will probably get offers on it. Nice find!!!!

    That also may not be a slot proc, could be a black fibre. Where would they put the slot proc in that thing?

    It's laying flat under the hard drive.

    It's a slot as far as I can tell. Has the little clippy things on the top of the processor.

    If you could can you pull off one of the keycaps and take a picture of both the switch and underneath the keycap itself? I could help identify which type of keys they are and you may be able to get a decent amount of money for the keycaps themselves!

    I threw this thing up on Ebay and almost immediately I had three best offer's asking for the keyboard alone. Grrr
