Vintage CRT industrial monitors

I wanted to show everyone what is inside some old industrial grade, high end CRT display monitors. These were part of a barn clean-out I am currently helping with. These are only 2 examples of about a dozen different brands from all about the same age; early '80s.
Disclaimer: no tubes were broken. All were sent to a local municipal recycle facility. Enjoy !


First I have a Honeywell Terminal Display Model# B01650

The two boards were stacked under the power supply plate, all under the tube assembly. Yoke was very small so i'm thinking it was a monochrome, text only display.

Tektronix Display Monitor Model# LR3675

Two boards are heavy. Gold IC is soldered to the board unfortunately. I almost missed the small aluminum covered ceramic and gold Intel chip. Its only the size of a quarter. Yoke is heavy with a very complex power supply setup. I'm thinking this was ether color or a high end monochrome graphics due to the Intel processor chip and the bank of ROM.

Very, Very Cool. I have yet to see the inside of one of those older type monitors. I did get some older boat radars and found several high boards in those but no cool chip like the one in the last photo. Thanks for sharing. Mike

I took apart about a half dozen more vintage monitors this weekend. Most were your standard CRT brown boards. Two were interesting.

Human Designed Systems Inc (HDS); Infocon, Model 2000G

The first one had a nice telcom board in the base, but the second one I opened up had a nice white ceramic NEC gold eprom.

I finished up my barn clean-out (finally) and got a bunch more monitors. Two stood out

Model ADM-5

Very retro and futuristic



Board is toast but very cool. No good chips but a very nice telcom board



This would probably be worth some good money if it was in way better shape, but as it sits, borderline full scrap or just a desk weight. Ill just shelf it for now. TBD

The other monitor I will post this weekend when I get a chance to pull it off the trailer... Its HUGE

After looking this big monitor over, it looks to be a piece of lab equipment. X-ray or something. Its not that old but its big and heavy as heck. boards are disappointing but I thought i'd show it off anyways. Enjoy
