I just got a couple hard drives that are big also. Mine are full alum. 14" platters. Nice looking chip also
Similar to the ones in my avatar........I was told to tear em down if I wanted to sell as scrap
They are still in my dads basement can't bring myself to scrap em

Some things just have a "Cool" factor. I also own and operate a small computer store as well as recycling and I like to keep some of the unusual things in my store as displays. Maybe you could check with some of the computer shops in your area and sell that for more than scrap value. It is a lot easier to explain to customers how a hard drive works with a large one like that than a regular hard drive. You may want to push it's "Cool" factor also as a display object. I myself have several large hard drive as well as unusual boards in my shop.

Just out of curiosity do you know how many mb the drive is. Also it looks like you would have some boards in the back of the unit

I found this about the Kennedy 5380 drive. There is a little bit of information on it in appendix D on the following pdf file.
Looks like this drive might have come from a Digital system. The reference manual is from 1983 so your really big drive is pretty old.

Oh and I found an old usenet post from 1981 that says your drive is an 80 MB drive.
