my question is my pci cards usually just get throw in with my high grade.so if i remove the steel racket and cut the fingers off will they still ring in as high grade?
i have also found that cutting the fingers off motherboards and daughter cards does not reduce there value
so agien if i remove the fingers and brackets off pci will they still right in as high grade?
The yard i go to just looks at the populations on the board to grade them. They don't care if they have gold on them or not.
If they don't care it has gold on there or not, what the hek are they recycling it for ?Quote:

id rather ask the buyer first, otherwise they might pay them as midgrade in the sort and 50 cents pound for trimmed finger cards is not good

I agree that if you have a relationship with this buyer, then asking a question shouldn't be that difficult.
Mixing that many in, when they pay differently on them, might make them scrutinize everything else you bring in from now on.
I prefer my boxes be taken and thrown in their proper bin at the yard as opposed to them digging through everything to make sure i sorted it correctly.
Took a little while but most of the guys now know that my stuff is sorted accordingly. I wouldn't want them questioning my integrity. So it doesn't seem worth trying to pull one over on them to me.
well im assuming with the brackets and fingers removed they would be considered peripheral board but ill ask him anyway
It depends on the yard, and what they do with the scrap. There is a lot of difference between what they pay you, and what they are getting for the boards. Some scrap yards sell to larger scrap yards, some represent their material and have it processed by a refiner, and still others are the refiner themselves. Some of them are managed better than others.Quote:

But if the scrap yard is paying you the same with or without the gold fingers, I would take the time and remove them, you can sell them to a refiner here, or on ebay for extra money.

The chips on the boards have value. The MLCCs have silver and palladium, many of the chips and flatpacks have silver, gold and sometimes palladium and other precious metals. The boards themselves have copper and many times gold plated copper. And sometimes, specially on telecom boards, you have RF shielding of some type of precious metals not to mention the Aluminum, stainless steel, iron, kovar.Quote:

why would you risk losing your buyer for 50 cents a pound? just keep the boards separated and send them like that
