Make a note - Do not try to fold projection screen tv screens

I don't know if it was because it sat out in the cold weather or what but, I'm going to be finding pieces of this thing for YEARS to come - it freaking shattered. Like, exploded shattered.

The thin film piece did as well. So much for folding it in half and putting it in the garbage can nice and neat :rolleyes:


Them things are pretty slippery slick, thought about sliding down the street on it for a minute there, good thing I didn't try it, it would have been all over the road first little bump I hit!

Glad you didn't hurt yourself. Some lessons we have to learn the hard way. I learned that some hard drive disks are made of mirrored glass while trying to pry one out with a screwdriver. Luckily, I didn't get hurt on that one, just very surprised. So I know the feeling.

Don't drop flat screen TV with stands either. I was unloading one that was sitting in the Texas summer sun for about 2 hours and I didn't have gloves on. Big mistake. I dropped it and the bottom shiny black piece turned out to be tempered glass. So it went ALL over my driveway. I still find pieces to this day, hiding in my lawn

I got tired of sweeping snow off the garage floor, so I tried to use the screens on the garage floor for a snow/slush mats. Didnt work out to good. I didnt know what was worse walking on, the screens or the actual ice in the driveway.

I tore down a 56" inch projection tv and couldnt figure out what to do with the screen, so i leaned them against the studs behind my breakdown table and they keep the tiny screws and bits of plastic from going back there...

Good idea, does it look like this? If so, solar project people want them. It's a Fresnel lens used to magnify images, but also concentrates the sunlight like a regular magnifying glass. I saw a kid in one of the yards I go to burning pieces of paper with one of these. lens fresnel 56 | eBay

I took a survival class when I was a boy scout. There was something like that in the fire starting lesson. you could light up paper from 5 feet away in a few seconds. kinda fun

yes plastic in winter is a different bird . But I use it to my advantage vac's bust easy and so on , sharper pieces in winter.
